Mangaluru District court staff officials have been voluntarily feeding the poor and needy amidst the Covid-19 crisis. With a daily reach of around 150 these people have taken upon themselves the task of ensuring that no one sleeps without food.

“Food is prepared hygienically at a few rooms. The staff move in their two-wheelers to distribute to the needy roaming around Wenlock Hospital, KSRTC bus stand and a few other places,” an official from the District Court said.

The Judicial Officers are making regular visits to food and night shelters to supervise the above-mentioned operation and a report regarding the same is soon to be submitted to the State Legal Services Authority.

Salary Cut

Alongside this, 45 judicial officers including the Principal District and Sessions Judge Kadloor Sathyanarayanacharya have voluntarily contributed their salary for three days from the month of March to be used for COVID-19 relief, while 500 court staff have given up one day’s salary for the same.
