The Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) requested the Apex Court to partially cancel the summer vacations during the period from May 18 to June 26. This plea has come after a unanimous decision of all members during a meeting via video conferencing on 13 April.

The decision was reached in the backdrop of the nationwide lockdown due to the corona virus pandemic.  It also reflected upon the hardships faced by both the Advocates and Litigants in the current situation.

It has been urged that the summer vacations which had to originally begin on 18th May partially be cancelled and the same shall now be rescheduled between June 22 to July 5.

A statement issued by the Association read, “Such Summer vacations, even though limited, will enable the Advocates hailing from different parts of the country to visit their families. SCAORA requests it’s members to render their fullest co-operation.

The SC had restricted its functioning to hear only urgent matters since 13th May and the same shall continue till the end of the lockdown i.e. 3rd May.
