Functioning of the Delhi High Court and its subordinate courts to remain suspended till May 23

The functioning of the Delhi High Court and its subordinate courts shall remain suspended till May 23.

This decision was taken by the Administrative and General Supervision Committee of High Court.

During this period, the arrangements of mentioning and hearing of urgent matters through videoconferencing shall continue as before.

However, the number of Single Benches of Delhi High court will be increased to ten.

All the pending matters listed during this period stand adjourned to dates in July, 2020.

The subordinate courts shall also continue hearing urgent matters related to bail, stay/injunction as per the directions already issued.

The High Court has further ordered that no adverse order shall be passed by the subordinate courts without hearing it via videoconferencing or without having written submissions from the counsel concerned.

Delhi High court observed,

If any judicial officer wants to pronounce judgment in the physical presence of the parties, all the necessary precautions be taken to maintain social-distancing.
