Justice UU Lalit will become part of the Supreme Court collegium with effect from July 20 . He will be the fifth senior judge of the collegium after Justice R Banumathi retired on July 19 2020
The other members of the Collegium are Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justices N V Ramana, Arun Mishra and R F Nariman.
The recommendation of the SC Collegium is needed for the appointment of judges at the Supreme Court and High Courts, and also in the transfer of HC judges.
The third senior judge in the Collegium, Justice Arun Mishra has his retirement due on September 5, 2020.

About Justice UU Lalit
Justice Lalit was elevated from the bar on August 13, 2014. In June, 1983, Justice Lalit enrolled as an Advocate and practised in the High Court of Bombay till December, 1985. He shifted his practice to Delhi in January 1986.The Supreme Court in April, 2004 designated him as a Senior Advocate and had appointed him for CBI to conduct trial in all 2G matter in the capacity of a Special Public Prosecutor.
