No Data on Number of Doctors, Medical Staff and Police personnel who Died Due to COVID-19: Central Government Reveals To Parliament

The Central Government disclosed that it does not have data on the number of doctors, medical staff and the Police personnel who died due to COVID-19 across the country.

AITC MP Prasun Banerjee in Lok Sabha had asked the Government about the number of police personnel who died due to COVID-19. The Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai responded by saying,

The data in respect of Police personnel who died due to COVID-19 across the country is not maintained centrally.

MP from the Samajwadi Party Ravi Prakash Verma had also raised question in the Rajya Sabha seeking details of the number of persons including doctors and medical staff died due to Covid-19 in India.

Responding to Ravi Prakash Verma , AK Choubey, said, Such data is not maintained at Central level by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. However, database of those seeking relief under the “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Insurance Package” is maintained at national level.
