Delhi Court grants bail to foreign nationals from 21 countries in Tablighi Jamaat case

A Delhi Court yesterday granted bail to foreign nationals from 21 countries in the Tablighi Jamaat case belonging to Algeria, Afghanistan, Brazil, China, USA, Ukraine, Australia, Egypt, Russia, Belgium, Jordan, France, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Tunisia, UK, Fiji, Sudan, Philippines, Australia, Ethiopia.

All the accused were from the above-named countries on bail on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 each. All foreign nationals were facing trial for the alleged commission of offences under u/s 14(b) Foreigners Act, 1946 r/w section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, r/w section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, r/w section 188/269/270/271 IPC.

APP Sanjay Mishra appeared for State. Advocates Ashima Mandla and Mandakini Singh appeared accused persons for Algeria, China, Philippines, Ukraine, UK, Russia, Ethopia, Morocco, Jordan and Sudan. Advocates Fahim Khan and Ahmad Khan for Brazil, Afghanistan, Fiji, USA, Australia, Egypt, Belgium, France, Kazakhstan and Tunisia.

The Cases have been divided as per the nationality of the accused persons to expedite the trial. Plea bargaining applications by the Malaysian accused have already been transferred to Metropolitan Magistrate-05, South East.
