The Kerala High Court has requested Advocates to furnish details of pending commercial and tax cases worth Rs 500 Crore or more for constituting a Bench to deal with “high-value commercial disputes” in the Kerala High Court.
The Commercial Courts Act, 2015, provides for the establishment of Commercial Courts, Commercial Divisions, and Appellate Benches in High Courts that have Original Civil Jurisdiction. These Courts hear cases worth Rs 1 Crore or greater.
The Kerala High Court presently does not have a designated Commercial Division or a Commercial Appellate Bench.
The Notice cites the object of constituting a Commercial Bench for the resolution of ‘High-Value Commercial Disputes‘ as a measure “to improve performance and to ensure speedy disposal of commercial disputes.“
The details have to be communicated to hvcdisp.hc-ker@kerala.gov.in by July 23.
