Haryana Govt decides to issue e-passes to advocates to travel to Delhi for court/legal work

The Government of Haryana has agreed to issue e-passes to all advocates/staff who want to visit Delhi for court/legal work.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has also stated that it has no objections with regards persons travelling to Delhi from Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad to attend “private office for some urgent professional work”.

A list of more than 6000 Advocates who stay in Haryana but enrolled with the Petitioner was placed before the Government Authorities. The Haryana Government thus decided to allow such advocates to travel to Delhi on e-passes which could be obtained from ‘Saral Haryana’ website, the Court was informed.

The matter was taken up today by a Division Bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh, Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi, K C Mittal pointed out that the performa uploaded for issuance of e-passes by Nodal Officers in Uttar Pradesh did not have a separate column for advocates and only pertained to inter-district movement within Uttar Pradesh.

A Division Bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rajnish Bhatnagar  has also issued notice in a petition by the Delhi High Court Bar Association, seeking the Court’s direction to allow cross-border movement of advocates practising in Delhi.

The Court has adjourned the matter of e pass to advocates till May 20 to allow counsel for Uttar Pradesh to seek instructions.
