[School fees] Rajasthan HC Disposes Plea For Waiver Of School Fees Amid Lockdown Based On State Assurance

A Division Bench comprising of Justice Sabina and Justice Chandra Kumar Songara of  Rajasthan High Court disposed of a PIL seeking waiver of school fees, after the Government apprised the court that a policy decision for the same had been taken.

The Petitioner, Advocate Rajeev Bhushan Bansal had approached the High Court stating that due to lockdown situation, parents are unable to pay necessary fee to the private school authorities. Hence, he prayed that payment of school fee be waived off for the time being.

The court was further informed that the name of any student will not be struck off from the school rolls, merely on account of non-payment of fee for the said period. Additional Advocate General Ganesh Meena, had informed the court that on April 9, 2020, the Government had issued an order for deferring the due payment of private schools fee, as on March 15, 2020, for three months.

 The petition seeking waiver of school feeswas disposed of for having “no ground for further interference“.
