Centre extends validity of fitness, permits, licences, registration, other documents concerning Motor Vehicles until December 31

State Government and The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway amends motor vehicle rules

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has extended the validity of Motor Vehicles certificates concerning fitness, permits, licenses, registration and other documents until December 31, in view of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic situation.

As per a press release issued by the Ministry today, the validity of these and other documents under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989will stand extended till December 31.

This extension of validity is applicable to all such documents of motor vehicles which have expired since February this year and those which would expire by December 31.

The decision has been taken considering that the COVID-19 pandemic situation is still continuing and given the lockdown conditions prevailing to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country. “This step of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is likely to help out the citizens in availing transport-related services”, the press release added.
