Update: 7.10.20 The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs. 2,000 and punishment till rising of the Court on Advocate Yatin Oza, in the criminal contempt case registered against him for making “scurrilous remarks” against High Court and its Registry, during a live press conference on Facebook.
Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association (GHCAA ) President Yatin Oza was held guilty of contempt of court for his statements concerning alleged corruption on the part of the Court’s registry during a Facebook press conference by a Division Bench of Justices Sonia Gokani and NV Anjaria.
The Gujarat High Court issued a suo motu criminal contempt notice to the President of the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association (GHCAA) Yatin Oza citing irresponsible, sensational and intemperate allegations of corruption levelled against the High Court and its Registry by Oza in a live press conference via Facebook in June this year.

The Operative portion of the judgment stated,
This Court in exercise of powers conferred upon it under Article 215 of the Constitution of India and section 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, holds the Respondent contemner (Oza) guilty of committing criminal contempt of this Court within the meaning of section 2(c)(i) of the Contempt of Courts Act,1971.
The Matter has been reserved for 30 th October and the quantum of punishment will be declared tomorrow.
