Kerala Legal Services Authority to Organise Online Lok Adalat in October

The Kerala Legal Services Authority (KELSA) will be organising a virtual lok adalat on the SAMA Online Dispute Resolution Platform on October 17, 2020.

The adalat is expected to take up and resolve motor accident claims, matrimonial matters (not inclusive of divorce cases), bank recoveries, electricity disputes, undervaluation cases, and compoundable criminal cases, among other matters.

Litigants who have cases pending in Court/s are required to obtain the assent of the prosecuting Court before submitting their petitions, it has been directed. This may be done by the parties themselves or their Counsel.

The parties and counsel for the cases listed for the virtual Adalat will be asked to attend a pre-Adalat counselling session, following which the cases will be finally heard on October 17, 2020.

SAMA, the platform hosting KELSA’S Adalat, has organised similar Adalats in Delhi and Rajasthan, whereby 55,700+ cases were taken up and over 32,000 cases were disposed of with the settlement amounts totalling over Rs 109 crores.

People interested may mail the petitions/details of the disputes they wish to resolve through the Adalat to their respective District Legal Services Authorities by September 15, KELSA Member-Secretary Nisar Ahammed K T informed.
