ABOUT THE ONLINE ESSAY COMPETITION

The Competition aims to initiate a discourse on the legal and economic scrutiny of the issues, implementation and impact assessment of the policy decisions adopted by the Government of India to tackle the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus Disease). Furthermore, it attempts to find possible solutions and diagnosis of the situation through the discourse. The Competition will be conducted online. E-Certificates will be awarded to the Top Three entries. Online internship opportunities with Scriboard and Metacept.com will be provided to selected participants. In addition, selected entries will be published in an e-Edition of RFMLR – ISSN (O): 2347-3827 on www.rfmlr.com.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION AND THE JOURNAL

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (RGNUL) is a National Law University located in Patiala, Punjab. It was established in 2006 by the Government of Punjab as a university dedicated to the field of legal education under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Punjab Act (No. 12 of 2006). RGNUL Financial and Mercantile Law Review (RFMLR), first published in the year 2014, is a bi-annual, student-run, blind peer-reviewed law journal currently in its 7th volume and is one of the flagship publications of RGNUL. It was set up as an academic initiative to promote research and debate in areas of financial and economic law. The review looks to understand the legal paradigm prevalent in India and South East Asia and how it affects finance and other cross border mercantile activities. The Editorial Board of RFMLR also operates the RFMLR Blog at www.rfmlr.com. RFMLR is indexed on SCC Online and has been ranked as the 9th most accessed Law School Law Review by the SCC Blog. Further, the Editorial Board recently organised the ‘Colloquium on GST Law in collaboration with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys which received an overwhelming response from law students and academicians across the country.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATORS

Scriboard Advocates and Legal Consultants, New Delhi is a full service commercial law firm with cutting edge specialisation in Information Technology and Intellectual Property and related services. The firm is legal counsel to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and to the National Internet Exchange of India [NIXI], which manages the .in [Indian Country Code Top Level Domain Extensions]. Scriboard is also counsel to leading technology companies like Facebook, Hike Messenger and Amazon. At the national and international level, the firm has represented leading companies and individuals, Indian Oil, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Havells India Limited and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The firm also advises the Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI] on Internet Security and Cyber Crime. The firm services clients in Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The firm acts as legal advisor to the Computer Association of Nepal [CAN], the Nepal Supreme Court and Nepal Telecom Authority [NTA]. In addition, the firm has assisted the Government in Nepal in the drafting and preparation of the Electronic Commerce Law.

ELIGIBILITY

The Competition is open for all students enrolled in any discipline in a recognized University/ College/Institute within India or outside.


GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION


? Co-authorship is limited to a maximum of two authors.
? Multiple entries by the same author will not be permitted.
? The essays must be written in English language only.
? Word Limit: 2500 – 3000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
? The essays must be the original work of the author(s) and must not have been published/pending for publication/submitted for publication elsewhere.
? The name(s) of the author(s) must not be mentioned anywhere in the body of the essay.
? The main text must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12 and line spacing 1.5.
? Footnotes must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 10 and single line spacing.
? Page margins must be 1 inch on all sides.
? Citation format: The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Ed.)
? The submissions must be made in ‘.doc’ or ‘.docx’ format only.
? The submissions must be accompanied by a“Statement of Originality and Copyright” duly signed by the author(s), mentioning that the manuscript is an original and a bona fide work of the author(s) and the author(s) undertake to divest the copyright of the work to RGNUL Financial and Mercantile Law Review, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab.
? The submissions must also be accompanied by a scanned copy of the authorised University/College ID Cards of the author(s).

IMPORTANT NOTE:


? No registration fee is to be paid.
? The Winners shall be announced after a comprehensive review of the submissions by the Editorial Board of RFMLR. The decision of the Board shall be final and binding.
? RFMLR possesses the right to reject entries which do not conform to the Guidelines for Submission.
? RFMLR reserves the absolute rights to cancel, defer, or postpone indefinitely, the competition in the event of the accruing of any incident, natural or man-made.
? In case of any dispute, the decision of RFMLR & RGNUL shall be final and binding.
