Gujarat HC Judge GR Udhwani Passes Away Due to Covid-19

A sitting Judge GR Udhwani of the Gujarat High Court passed away this morning due to COVID-19.

The 59 years old Judge GR Udhwani was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gujarat High Court on 12th November, 2012 and was confirmed as Permanent Judge on 10th July, 2014.

Justice GR Udhwani obtained his degree in Law from Sir LA Shah Law College, Ahmedabad in the year 1986. He was enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of Gujarat on 30th June, 1987.

He began his practice in Gujarat before joining the Bench as a Judge in City Civil Court at Ahmedabad in February, 1997. He was also appointed as an Additional Judge, Special Court (POTA) in October 2003 and was appointed as a Law Officer in July 2004, which was redesignated as Registrar in November 2004 in the Gujarat High Court.

He was repatriated to the State Judiciary as Judge, City Civil Court, Ahmedabad on July 13, 2007 and was appointed as Registrar (Infrastructure & Information Technology) on May 18, 2010 in the High Court of Gujarat.

Judge GR Udhwani also worked as a Registrar General (Incharge) in 2011 at the Gujarat High Court and was later appointed as Registrar General of that High Court.
