About the Webinar

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, University School of Law & Legal Studies is organising a Webinar on Mental Health Awareness & Emotional Well-Being Legal Imperatives in this COVID-19 Scenario on 10th May 2020 at 10.00 AM.

Mental health has become one of the most contentious issues in post-modern times. In this highly technological world, our mental faculties are getting affected immensely. But, the law has always been in constant touch with the mental health of an individual.

They go hand in hand. The Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 was one of the initiatives wherein it was realized that mental health needs to be guided by the legal imperatives. Even the international community has been time and again focussing on this issue. This webinar has been designed to promote these ideals at the forefront.

The aim of this webinar event is to stimulate dialogue on the importance of ensuring safety and health at work, not only to protect the lives of workers but also to ensure business continuity.

The aim of the webinar is to bring all the stakeholders contributing in the domain of Mental Healthcare, to a common platform wherein they can join forces to break the existing stigma concerning mental health by generating awareness and making the necessary intervention in this regard available to the masses.

The Objective of the Webinar

  1. To provide to students. psychiatrist, psychologist, academicians, professionals and researchers for sharing knowledge and experience in dealing with the problems and perspectives of mental health from the viewpoint of legal implications and provisions of mental health care Act 2017 as well as in context of Covid 19 pandemic.
  2. To throw light on the critical issues, case laws reflecting the violation of health rights of the children, elders and other vulnerable sections of society with mental disabilities in the institutions and the community.
  3. To bring modifications and amendments in the existing laws, the methods of treatment and rehabilitation of the patients.

  1. Promotion of Mental health and prevention of mental disorders under the mental health care Act 2017 and other critical issues.
  2. Legal issues rights for mental health in juvenile justice.
  3. Psychology of child victims of sexual offences and abuse.
  4. The issue of domestic violence and mental trauma- Socio-legal issues.
  5. Sensational media and its impact on mental health: Issues and Concerns.
  6. Psychosocial issues among migrant workers: Socio-legal issues.
  7. Mental health issues concerning doctors, health workers and patients.
  8. Corporate Social Responsibility for mental health under Covid 19 pandemic.
  9. Addressing public stigma and disparities among persons with mental illness or concerning mental health.

Submission Details

  1. The word limit for the abstract is 300-500 words, in times new roman and line spacing of 1.5.
  2. The abstract must be accompanied with details of Author and Co-Author along with the title of the paper(Name, Designation Contact details etc.
  3. The Abstract must be submitted on or before 8th May 2020.
  4. The selection of Abstracts would be intimated on 9th May 2020.
  5. Co-authorship is allowed up to two authors.
