Dushyant Dave, President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has resigned from his post stating that he had forfeited right to continue as the leader of the Bar Association.
The tenure of the Executive Committee of SCBA has already ended.
Dushyant Dave further stated in his brief letter stated that it may not be possible to hold virtual elections as per schedule “due to reservations held by some lawyers” and said “I understand their position and have no quarrel with it but to me any further continuation as the President in these circumstances will be morally wrong.”
Dave has thanked each member of the SCBA for the help and cooperation rendered during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senior Advocate Chander Uday Singh has also tendered his resignation as Member of the Executive (Senior), SCBA and stated, “We overcame all odds and raised substantial funds, thereby helping out a substantial section of our members who were faced with financial distress; we launched an unprecedented drive to help victims of the horrific riots which rocked NorthEast Delhi last February; we succeeded in getting a written commitment from the Honourable Judges Committee in respect of additional Chambers; we revamped the Library One and effected substantial repairs in all the libraries,”
Dave had recently represented a few farmer unions before the Supreme Court in the case of constitutional challenge to the three farm acts. The court had thereafter stayed the implementation of the three farm laws.
