ONGC Foundation is organising two categories of online competition on Project Development and Essay writing under Swachhata Pakhwada 2021.
Objective:
Cleanliness is an important quality of life. In fact, it is a habit which is often considered just next to godliness. Cleanliness is a habit not related to the wealth of a person, rather it is a habit which depicts the qualities a person is enriched with. To make the students aware of such a necessary quality of life, we have come up with online competitions for the students.
Outcome:
These activities will make the students
- Understand about cleanliness and its advantages in our lives
- Also motivate them towards imbibing this quality in their everyday life as well.
- To think out of the box and to inculcate the idea in the most effective way.
- To innovate on different means and ways for clean environment.
- To gain application, analysis, and synthesis skills.
General Instructions
- All participants will be awarded a certificate of participation by the ONGC Foundation. Separate intimation will also be sent to each of the winner.
- Participants must submit their student Identity-Card. Submissions without documents will lead to rejection.
- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- Entries received will be the subject matter of organizers and best entries will be released on our social media handle of ONGC Foundation.
- All decisions and results announced by the jury of this completion are final.
- The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current (India) data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
- We have the right to remove any entry we deem not suitable for the competition or is not following ONGC Foundation’s Terms and Conditions.
- By entering the contest, you retain the rights to your works while granting ONGC Foundation the unrestricted, royalty-free, perpetual right to use, reproduce, communicate, modify and display the works (in whole or in part) for any purpose without any fee or other form of compensation, and without further notification or permission.
Category 1:
Project Development Competition (A group event)
Participants: Pursuing Under graduation or Post graduation
ONGC Foundation invites college going students to participate in Project development competition.
Topics
- Design and development of a waste management system through Community Participation in Urban Areas
- Bringing Attitude and Behavioural change in rural community to accept the constructed toilets and ensuring sustainability of water use in those toilets.
It’s the little things that can make a big difference, two topics are provided, participant can choose one to share their understanding and develop a project to be practically feasible to implement same on ground.
With little effort on your behalf, you can make a big difference to Environment & participate in Clean India Campaign (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan). This is a chance to have your display your understanding towards actual grass root level challenges to persuade the prospect to adopt the solution to a problem and your writing skill with greats ideas while supporting cleanliness at the same time.
Poster Specifics:
- You need to submit detailed project proposal (in developed concept) in one of the above given topic.
- It should provide a brief overview of the problem, solution, costs, and benefits on chosen topic.
- It should address the issue clearly.
- Project should have at least of around 2500 words.
- Project title should be catchy and unique.
Format Requirement:
- File type: Pdf format
- File size: Less than 20 MB
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size shall be 12 points
- 1.5 interlinear space
- Margins of 2.54 cm on top,bottom and both sides
- It should include name of the Participants, Address, E-mail ID, Contact Number, Name of the College/Institute, address and email id in the cover page of the proposal.
- The quality of language will not be a decisive factor, as long as the text retains its clarity and coherence.
Scoring of the Project Development:
The Project will be assessed majorly on the following factors-
- Content – Originality
- Clarity
- Structure
- Impact:
- Overall impression
Process of selection:
15 top shortlisted candidates will be called for virtual presentation to showcase their proposed project developed and top 5 will be final winners as below.
Prizes:
ONGC Foundation will honour each of the winner in each category with cash prizes as under:
- The winner of the competition: Rs. 25000/-
- First Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 15000/-
- Second Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 10,000/-
- Consolation Prizes: Rs. 5000/- each (Up to two prizes)

Submission Guidelines for Project development:
- 1. It is a group event (Project required to be submitted by a group of 4 college students)
- 2. Participant (a group) is allowed a maximum of ONE entry. (please don’t send same project repeatedly)
- 3. One leader/group representative among the group should be chosen and details of all should be mentioned as one uploaded document in the form)
- 4. Project will be reviewed and considered only if submitted in the mentioned format as below;
- Title
- Introduction
- Objectives: What are the overall intended outcomes of this project?
- Project Background: What problems, challenges, or opportunities exist that create a need for this project?
- Project Scope: What are the steps or stages of the project? What elements are included in this project? How will the objectives be reached through this project?
- Methodologies (model)
- Location and timeline
- Target beneficiaries
- Impact & outcome
- Project sustainability
- Financial implication
- 5. Developed Project cannot include copyrighted/established project of any organisation but idea can be taken and model can be replicate.
- 6. The content or idea must be related to the topic and makes it easier to understand the theme.
- 7. Entries received will be the subject matter of organisers and best entries will be released on our social media handle.
- 8. Selected project can be a copyright of ONGC Foundation and can be used for future project development/implementation if required.
- 9. Decision of the judges will be final. There will be no obligation on the ONGC Foundation or the judges to explain the decision made.
Category 2:
Essay Writing Competition
Participants: Class 10th – 12th

Structure of the Essay Competition
The Essay Competition consists of written submission either in Hindi or in English language. It has to be submitted on the portal of the ONGC Foundation before the mentioned deadline. Each participant can submit only ONE Essay on any one of the topics mentioned above.
Only original essays will be considered for the competition. Previously published essays are excluded.
Any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the essay.
Length of Essay:
The essay shall be no longer than 1500 words, footnotes included. There is no down limit, although essays shorter than 900 words are not encouraged.
Format Requirement:
- Typed on a A4 size electronic page
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size shall be 12 points
- 1.5 interlinear space
- Margins of 2.54 cm on top, bottom and both sides
- It should include name of the Participant, Address, E-mail ID, Contact Number, Name of the School with address and email id in the cover page.
- The List of References shall include all cited texts throughout the Written Submission.
Scoring of the essay:
The essays will be assessed majorly on the following factors-
- originality of content
- clarity
- brevity
- structure and
- overall impression.
The quality of language will not be a decisive factor, as long as the text retains its clarity and coherence.
Decision of the judges will be final in all situations. There is no obligation on the ONGC Foundation or the judges to explain the decision made.
Prizes
ONGC Foundation will honour each of the winner in each category with cash prizes as under:
- The winner of the competition: Rs. 10000/-
- First Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 7500/-
- Second Runner Up of the competition: Rs. 5000/-
- Consolation Prizes: Rs. 2000/- each (Up to three prizes)

- Each participant is allowed a maximum of ONE entry. (please don’t send same project repeatedly)
- All essay write-up submitted to this competition must be your own and should not be copied from anywhere else.
- The content must be related to the topic and makes it easier to understand the theme.
- Any essay not related to the topic will not be considered as a valid entry.
- This competition will be judged by renowned academic experts
- Decision of the judges will be final. There will be no obligation on the ONGC Foundation or the judges to explain the decision made.
