About the Final Stand

The Final Stand is an initiative law students of Jindal Global Law School, determined to bring legislative change in India to reduce our carbon footprint and develop a social consciousness regarding climate change. Through highlighting localized issues and dispersing climate education in regional languages across the country, we aim to bring the conversation on climate to the forefront.

About the Workshop

The Final Stand in partnership with the Global Policy, Diplomacy, and Sustainability (GPODS) are excited to host an Online Certified ‘Policy Memo Drafting Workshop’ on April 3, 2022 (Sunday) between 11am to 2pm.

Memo writing includes structuring an argument in an easily digestible format meant to persuade policy action, usually by leaders in decision-making positions. This practice-oriented workshop will cover foundational rules of policy writing, structures of policy memos, and exercises to get students to write effective policy memos that are evidence-based, persuasive, and easy to read. Writing effective memos is increasingly becoming an essential skill for professionals both in the private and the public sector. From Amazon CEOs to Secretaries in the government of India, leaders increasingly demand memos from employees to base their decisions on.

The workshop will be facilitated by Mr. Arpit Chaturvedi, Co-Founder & CEO of Global Policy Insights. He is also a lecturer at the San Francisco State University where he teaches comparative perspectives in public service to graduate students. A graduate of the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs, Arpit holds an MPA degree with a focus on governance, politics and policy studies. He was also the first non-US citizen to hold the position of the editor-in-chief of the Cornell Policy Review. He is the author of the book, ‘Our Egalitarian Universe?’ and has been the editor of ‘Not without her: Communal Harmony’- a monograph printed by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony, Government of India, with essays from the top civil servants of the country. He has published articles in various prestigious journals on the themes of democracy, governance, systems thinking, game theory, history, and politics.

There are limited seats available, and the participants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. The workshop will be held over zoom and the link will be circulated to the selected participants.
